WHAT’S GOING ON HERE?: New sports activities enjoyable on approach at Guelph park
After the removal of ash and hazard trees in Eastview Park earlier this year, construction is underway for the city’s new 18-hole disc golf course.
JUST THE FACTS
The City of Guelph announced on Jan. 17 that, starting the week of Jan. 24, work will begin to remove 284 ash and hazard trees from the park, along with taking out the invasive buckthorn plant there. The city notes they will be replaced by “a diverse variety of native trees and shrubs at a later date.”
In March, once the tree removal work is finished, construction was set to begin on an 18-hole disc golf course in the northeast end of the park, near Speedvale Avenue East and Watson Parkway North.
The city shared a photo of an update on the project on social media on March 18.
“It might not look like much in this view, but that’s half the point; a disc golf course that fits into the natural environment. Our new 18-hole disc golf course at Eastview Park is under construction. Can you envision the space?”
The first nine holes are expected to be ready by the summer, with the full course finished by the fall.
