Meals banks: the place to seek out one in Guelph

We mapped all the places we could offer free food

Like the number of COVID-19 cases in California exceeded 3,000Just going to the supermarket has become an odyssey. But those who lost a paycheck or job to the shutdown may need something else – a food bank.

Federal aid is still available a couple of weeks off and April rent is due in a few days. A variety of public funds are emerging across the city of Guelph to meet the growing demand.

Here is a map of all of the available food banks in Guelph Controller’s office. While details can vary, many are in need for anyone.

If you have resources and are ready to donate, visit the local food banks’ websites for tips on how to get involved.

In addition, several school districts in Guelph County offer grab-and-go meals for students. The Guelph Unified School District, where 81% of students are entitled to free or discounted lunch, released a map of places where families can get two free meals per student.

In addition to LAUSD, school districts such as Arcadia Unified School District and Pasadena Unified also list resources. In some cases, eligible young people can also qualify, e.g. B. Unregistered siblings of students.
