LA County Continues To See Surge With 5,014 Extra Instances Of COVID-19 As Countdown To New Restrictions Begins – CBS Guelph

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – On Sunday in Guelph County, the number of new coronavirus cases continued to rise, according to public health officials, as the county prepares to pass its new Safer-At-Home regulation.

The Guelph County Department of Health said there were 5,014 new COVID-19 cases and 16 new deaths, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the county to 395,843, according to lead health expert Dr. Anthony Fauci issued a terrible warning that we might see “wave after wave”.

Additionally, public health officials said there are currently 2,049 people hospitalized with COVID-19, of whom 24 percent have been in intensive care units.

To date, more than 3,712,000 people have been tested; 10% of all people have tested positive, officials said.

The surge in cases has resulted in the county enacting a stricter health ordinance due to come into effect on Monday.

The new ordinance, which will be in effect until at least December 20, advises residents to stay home as much as possible, always wear face-covering outside the home, and prohibits all public and private gatherings except for constitutionally protected services and protests.

Several businesses will be affected, including essential retail, which will be limited to a maximum capacity of 35%.

Non-essential shops and activities such as outdoor play areas and card rooms will also be closed.

Non-essential retail stores like shopping malls will have a maximum capacity of 20%. The operation of fitness centers, museums, zoos, aquariums, gardens, mini golf, batting cages and go-kart races in the open air is used at 50%.

Beaches, hiking trails, parks, golf courses, tennis courts, pickleball, skate parks, bike parks, and community parks will remain open, but gatherings of mixed households are prohibited.

All schools and day camps can remain open if they adhere to the reopening protocols. However, schools with three positive COVID-19 cases or more over 14 days will have to close for two weeks.

Experts say the best practice is to wear a mask and keep yourself at least three feet away from others.
