IKEA to host in-store sleepovers in New York and Guelph, Life-style Information

40 guests will have the opportunity to spend a night at IKEA stores in Brooklyn and Costa Mesa on March 13th.

The Swedish furniture giant is celebrating world sleep day with exclusive overnight stays in the store at its locations in Brooklyn and Costa Mesa.

The event, called IKEA Swede Dreams Sleepover, offers members of the IKEA family the opportunity to spend the night with a guest of their choice in the showrooms of the Swedish furniture manufacturer.

This gigantic overnight stay will take place on Friday, March 13th. IKEA teases unique sleep-themed games and activities all night long.

While studies report that one in four Americans suffers from insomnia every year, IKEA also announced an Insomniac Lounge with ASMR experiences, a silent disco, and sleep workshops for its night guests.

In addition to the IKEA Swede Dreams Sleepover, US customers can take part in various sleep-related workshops and activities on February 22nd as part of the IKEA After Dark Sleep Festival.

The raffle for IKEA Swede Dreams Sleepover will take place from February 11th to 23rd. The forty lucky winners will be announced on February 24th (20 each for the Brooklyn and Costa Mesa stores).

This initiative was launched less than four years after the Swedish giant’s relapse of illegal overnight stays in its branches. Ten incidents were reported in the US, Canada, UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Japan, Australia and Poland.

The trend started after two teenagers posted a video of their night out at a Belgian IKEA store on YouTube, which has been viewed nearly 3 million times since it was released in August 2016.
