Guelph youth arrested after assault of trip share driver
A 15-year-old Guelph female has been charged with assault and fail to comply with an undertaking following an incident with a ride share driver on July 27, Guelph Police Service said in a news release.
At 11:24 pm, the youth was near the intersection of Victoria Road and Woodlawn Road East, when she allegedly attempted to engage in a fight with another female youth who was sitting in a ride share motor vehicle, police said. When the other youth would not exit the vehicle, she allegedly began slapping and kicking it.
Police said the adult male driver exited the vehicle to prevent it from being damaged and the female allegedly punched him in the head. The man called 911 but did not require medical attention. The female youth fled the area on foot, police said.
On July 28 at 9:31 pm, the female youth turned herself in to the Guelph Police Service station located in the downtown core, and she was subsequently arrested.
She is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 14.
