Cha-ching! Guelph’s Artful Ramen scores a take care of a dragon
A Guelph foodery is getting some dough from “Dragons’ Den.”
Crafty Ramen, which opened in the Royal City in 2017, was seen on the popular CBC program “Dragons’ Den” on Thursday, Oct. 27.
The show sees aspiring entrepreneurs pitch their business concepts and products to a panel of business moguls — dubbed dragons — who have the cash and the know-how to make it happen
Crafty Ramen’s Miki and Jared Ferrall, and Khalil Khamis, delivered their pitch — they were seeking support for their fresh ramen meal kit subscription service. They were asking for $600,000 for 6.5 per cent of the company.
Crafty Ramen gave the dragons a taste of their product and got glowing reviews.
“Best ramen I’ve ever had,” said Arlene Dickinson.
Crafty Ramen received a couple of offers, including one from Dickinson, who offered to lend $600,000 at a 12 per cent interest rate.
“I really believe in you guys as a team,” Dickinson said.
The Crafty Ramen crew accepted Dickinson’s offer and they were seen high-fiving their way from the den.
