Artists can begin making use of for Guelph’s Artwork on the Avenue 2022

Though it’s still about five months away, Guelph Arts Council and the Downtown Guelph Business Association are getting ready for a milestone 20th-anniversary edition of Art on the Street.

Applications are currently being accepted from artists for the outdoor art exhibition and sale, which will be expanded to a two-day event — taking place June 25 and 26 — in honour of the 20th anniversary.

The juried event, which has grown over the past two decades to become the city’s largest outdoor exhibition and sale, features fine art and crafts from established an emerging regional artists, a news release said.

Typically held on Quebec Street, which is closed to vehicle traffic for the occasion, the event went virtual in 2020 and 2021. For 2022, the event’s co-presenters plan to return to an in-person format.

“Guelph’s residents and visitors can connect with diverse artists on Quebec Street and take high-quality original art — including painting, pottery, woodworking, textile art, glass work, jewelry, and more — home with them,” the release said.

Artists have until March 7 to apply. Detailed artist guidelines and an application form are posted at www.GuelphArts.ca. Artists with questions about the application process are asked to contact Paige Bromby at [email protected] or 519-836-3280.
